How Class IV Laser Therapy or Shockwave Therapy May Fit Into Knee Care
Class IV Laser Therapy and Shockwave Therapy are conservative options that may be used as part of a knee care plan when appropriate.
During your evaluation, your provider will review your history, symptoms, movement, and exam findings to determine whether laser therapy, shockwave therapy, or another conservative option makes sense for your case. Knee pain can involve the joint itself, surrounding soft tissue, tendons, ligaments, previous injuries, activity load, hip mechanics, foot mechanics, or sports-related movement patterns.
When appropriate, Class IV Laser Therapy or Shockwave Therapy may be used to support irritated soft tissue, tendon-related irritation, or local joint-related discomfort as part of a broader care plan. Depending on your evaluation, your provider may also discuss movement guidance, physical therapy exercises, activity modification, or other conservative recommendations.
Individual results vary. Class IV Laser Therapy, Shockwave Therapy, or any other conservative treatment may not be appropriate for every knee condition. Your provider will discuss which options, if any, are reasonable for you after your evaluation.
