Chicago Chiropractor Dr. Christopher (CJ) DeFabio, D.C.
As a third-generation chiropractor, Dr. Christopher J. (CJ) DeFabio, D.C. brings decades of shared chiropractic experience and an evidence-based approach to his clinical practice at Ravenswood Chiropractic & Wellness Center. This unique combination allows him to provide a multifaceted, high quality of care for every one of his patients as they work toward a rapid return to function and restoration of all the activities of daily living.
Dr. DeFabio D.C.’ s passion for chiropractic began when he became a patient himself at a young age. Prior to graduating from chiropractic school, Dr. DeFabio D.C. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies from Rutgers University. During those four years, he ran Division 1 cross country and track and field, and he credits the consistent chiropractic care that he received for not only helping him remain pain free while training, but also allowing him to compete at peak performance during races.
In fact, it is this early experience as a college athlete that ultimately shaped Dr. DeFabio D.C.’s approach to care, allowing him to empathize with his patients as he applies chiropractic treatment for athletes seeking both performance enhancement and injury prevention. With the advantage of understanding the perspectives of both a provider and a patient, Dr. DeFabio D.C. has always valued the powerful impact that chiropractic treatment can have, whether through the treatment of acute and chronic conditions, or for the maintenance of health through wellness care.
More motivated than ever after his undergrad years, Dr. DeFabio D.C. went on to earn a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences. While at chiropractic school, he served as a teaching assistant in the anatomy lab, as well as completing a one-year clinical internship at a Chicago-based Salvation Army facility. During that time, he provided free chiropractic services to the facility’s in-patients, who consisted of recovering addicts, paroled convicts, and members of the city’s homeless population. In addition to helping him further develop his clinical skills, this experience provided Dr. DeFabio D.C. with an exceptional opportunity to foster his bedside manner as a compassionate practitioner treating patients with a wide spectrum of conditions.
Now, as an experienced chiropractor, Dr. DeFabio D.C. continues pushing himself to become more informed, more knowledgeable, and more empathetic in his practice. To that end, he has completed continuing education courses from Active Release Technique (ART certified, Upper and Lower level 1), the McKenzie Institute (Parts A, B, and C), and the Motion Palpation Institute. When he is not spending time with patients, Dr. DeFabio D.C. enjoys surfing, skateboarding, and volunteering at the Lakeview Food Pantry.
